Se siete a Napoli e fate una sosta agli scavi di Ercolano e Pompei vi consiglio di vedere una delle ville di Ercolano più interessanti da visitare:Villa Campolieto. Fu realizzata nel pieno degli anni delle scoperte archeologiche, con le sue decorazioni cariche di continui ricordi della vicina città riscoperta.
Lo scalone principale presenta uno schema simile a quello della Reggia di Caserta, non a caso i lavori furono affidati al Vanvitelli. La facciata posteriore che, nella zona centrale, si unisce al portico ad archi a tutto sesto somiglia al colonnato ad archi tondi del giardino della Reggia di Versailles.
La villa, terminata nel 1775, visse un periodo di splendore fino agli inizi dell’800 quando, a seguito di un susseguirsi di cambi di proprietà, si avviò verso il declino. Occupata militarmente durante l’ultimo conflitto, versò in uno stato di completo abbandono fino all’acquisto da parte dell’Ente Ville Vesuviane che si occupò del restauro.Attualmente la villa è utilizzata per importanti incontri culturali e di spettacolo quali il Festival delle Ville Vesuviane.
Le sale più suggestive sono il salone che viene immaginato come il luogo scelto dal re Carlo III di Borbone per mostrare alla città i tesori degli antichi abitanti. Diverse le stanze della villa dalle quali emergono mosaici, affreschi ed altri oggetti.
Gli interni che mostrano scene dell'epoca furono decorati con affreschi di Jacopo Cestaro Fedele Fischetti.

Fino al 22 novembre potrete ammirare ben 30 immagini inedite sull'architettura del '700 delle Ville Vesuviane amate dai viaggiatori del gran tour e accompagnate dalla proiezione di diapositive. Presenti tra l'altro suggestivi scorci di Villa Campolieto e Villa Ruggiero.
